Ramones Endure Interview From Hell
This interview is from The Tom Snyder Show in 1981 during the peak of the Ramones popularity. Snyder was unable to host that night, instead having a blonde mopped talking head as a fill-in.As soon as the interview starts it rapidly goes downhill. The host ridicules the name of the band, implies that The Sex Pistols and the Clash were more significant to punk rock, and tries to paint them as hypocritical conformists. It's obvious that there was an agenda to discredit the New York punk pioneers, given how much of a societal threat leather jackets and eye eclipsing haircuts werein the early 80s.Despite the cringeworthy scenario Joey and the gang relatively kept their cool and had the full backing of the audience.
